Disney + True Love
What gets me is that people are just now saying that Disney broke its stereotype of romantic love saving the day. Up here I see romantic love, the love two daughters have for her father, one going to war knowing she may die for her father, another giving up her dream to do something she knew her father would be proud of, the love two sisters share, the love that forms between friends who had no one, and a father putting his child’s life before his own.
Disney didn’t need to say it out loud. They didn’t break a stereotype in 2013. They’ve been breaking it for years and saying it through actions. Disney established what true love was a long time ago.
”It’s not true we are taking different paths. You are my path. You’ve always been my path, and you will always be.”
Red is one of my favourite characters ever invented.
